Mission Teams
Thailand Team
We are so excited to be returning to Pattaya, Thailand in 2012!!!
Pattaya
Pattaya is a city situated about 2 hours (150km) southeast of Bangkok. It is a coastal city, and is Thailand’s largest holiday resort, stretching for some 15km along the Eastern Seaboard. It is also the centre of much of Thailand’s sex industry. It is quite westernised, populated with many recognisable shops and arcades. It is probably most famous for the large number of tourists who flock to the many clubs within the centre of the city. Poverty is a reality for many of the local people in Pattaya – you do not have to look very far to find communities living in slums. The church in Pattaya is very small, but there are several key ministries we are connected with which are committed to see transformation in these areas as they show Gods love to the people of Pattaya.
Why do we go?
Pattaya is a city of nations, a kind of microcosm of the world. As you can imagine it is a place that needs healing and transformation, not only for the tourists but for the locals as well. For the last 9 years teams from Northern Ireland & the wider UK have been responding to the invitation of the church in the city, and heading out to join in the ‘Pattaya Praise Festival’. This annual event is part of a continued vision that prayer, worship and servant ministry are key building blocks to the release of God’s power in the city.
Who’s up for the challenge?
We are looking for a team of up to 50 people. We already have a lot of interest from past team members – but we are always excited to see new faces joining us.
We are looking for people with the following attributes;
passionate about Jesus, up for a challenge, adaptable (a must in Thai culture!) able to work well in a team setting.
We are looking for people with the following skills;
talkers, listeners, encouragers, huggers, prayers, worshippers, dancers, musicians, artists, decorators, plumbers, odd jobbers, health care professionals, hairdressers, kids workers…….the list is endless!
Do remember though..we are there to serve, so you may or may not get to use your more obvious skills/training – flexibility is vital!
How much will it cost??
Good question!! We’re not totally sure yet – we’re still pricing flights. Based on previous trips the total costs (excluding personal expenses like meals) should come in at around £900. We will confirm this asap.
Ok, I’m in…..when do we go….??
